Ronald Ng


Equipped with a strong classical music background, Ronald is a renowned music producer and composer. Ronald started playing the piano at the age of nine. When he was 10, he began learning to play the trumpet with Mr Wong Yat-chiu. At the age of thirteen, he was the first student to be admitted to the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts to study trumpet with Mr Henry Nowak. At the same time, he studied piano with Ms Nancy Loo. During that period, Ronald performed with various orchestras and symphonies and was also chief trumpet player in the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra. He studied at Heep Woh Primary School, and proceeding his secondary education at TWGHs Wong Fut Nam College, transferred to Diocesan Boys’ School when he was in Form 4. He participated in various symphonies and choirs, and won prizes in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festivals. In 1995, he  graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston, and obtained a Double Bachelor’s Degree in Music Production and Film Scoring. Upon returning to Hong Kong, he was referred to Creative Artist Management Co Ltd. (CAM). by the saxophonist and composer Mr Cheung Yik Ngai


By working with renowned musicians like Mr Wang Wai Lin, Mr Chiu Tsang Hei and Mr Clarence Hui, he gained much valuable experience and useful working opportunities in the music industry. In 1999, Ronald was invited to join BMG Publishing Ltd. From that time onwards, he started working as a record producer while composing songs for artists and scoring films. In 2002, he set up RNLS Productions Ltd. and RNLS Publishing Ltd., and became a full-time music producer.

Ronald has written and produced over 300 songs. The works include songs sung by Andy Lau, Tony Leung, Hacken Lee, Joey Yung, Kelly Chen, Twins, Miriam Yeung, Eason Chan, Aaron Kwok, Andy Hui, Jacky Cheung, Edmond Leung, Juno Mak, Janice Wai, and Nicholas Tse.
Ronald’s outstanding contribution to music has won myriad awards including “Best Music Producer Award” in TVB Top Ten Solid Gold Award 1999, “Best TV Commercials Song Golden Award” in TVB Top Ten Solid Gold Award 2000 and “IFPI Top Sale Canto Album 2002”.

Furthermore, many of his co-produced records have received “Best Album Award from Hong Kong four Radio and TV Stations”and he also the winner of “Highest No. of New Works Performed Composer Award” in the CASH Most Performed Work Awards for 3 consecutive years (2002-2004).

He has written numerous film scores such as “6th Floor Rear Flat”, “Lavender”, “Feel 100% 2”, “The God of Cookery”, “Golden Girls”, and “Elixir of Love". Among these, the films scores of “Lavender” and “Golden Girls” were nominated for “Best Original Film Score” and “Best Original Film Song” for the Hong Kong Film Awards. In 2003, he won “Best Original Film Song” at the 22nd Hong Kong Film Awards (“Infernal Affairs”).

He has also played keyboard for numerous concerts. He has accompanied singers such as Andy Lau, Leon Lai, Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau, David Tao, Faye Wong, Mavis Fan, Joey Yung, and Nicholas Tse.

Ronald released his album in 2005 which contains his most popular compositions from his music career spanning from 1996 to 2005. In 2006, he founded Baron School of Music, where he holds the post of President and Chairman. Ronald is committed to nurturing musicians and fostering music culture in Hong Kong through Baron School of Music.
